CURRICULUM AIM
At Southlands school, design technology provides all students with the opportunity to enjoy and realise success through the expression of creative, practical, technical and artistic skills.
An understanding of the environmental impact of technology in the local community and across the world.
Our ambition is to provide opportunities to develop learners' practical and creative skills with the aim of promoting independent learning. We also encourage students to take risks and so become more resourceful, innovative and capable individuals.
To do this effectively, they will acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on additional subjects such as mathematics, English science, art, geography and ICT.
Students will gain the experience of
- Handling different types of hand tools.
- Operating machines and power tools.
- To use a variety of materials in projects.
